Parenting can feel very isolating, especially when working through challenges with your child. But it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. And with CHP programs designed to support you, you can find benefits to help you be the best parent. Here are some free offerings from CHP to help parents.

Parent liaisons program

The Parent liaison clinics offer free support for any parents of students at Washington, Winans, or East Side Schools in Livingston. This is a space to have your questions answered, with plenty of flexibility. Liaisons can meet with you at the school, a coffee shop, or talk to you on the phone. This program is a way to find support if you’re wondering about school, community resources, or your child’s development. Liaisons want to know how you and your child are doing and to explore your questions and challenges with kindness.

Circle of Security

For Livingston parents, free workshops are available called the circle of security. At these live presentations and discussion sessions limited to 12 parents, you’ll find free childcare and a light meal provided. Parents with kids aged 0 to 8 years old, expectant parents, or ones with older kids can all benefit from the safe, facilitated discussion. You might be struggling or just want some tips to help you be the best parent you can be.

All children struggle. Whether you’re dealing with tantrums, crying, aggression, anger, sadness, shame, or other struggles or emotions, you can find support at these free Tuesday-evening sessions.

Parents as teachers

The Parents as Teachers home visiting program in Park County is available for free. Each visit includes an activity on the floor with both the parent and child, a discussion between the parent and the home visitor, a new free book for the family, and a referral to any community resources the parent is interested in. It also includes a few screenings to ensure that your child is meeting physical, cognitive, and social-emotional milestones. This program is available to any family with an infant to 5-year-old.

Participation can lead to improved child health and development, family health and functioning, parenting knowledge and skills, and school readiness. Signing up is as simple as getting in touch with the contact for your area and setting up a visit.

Pathways/TANF clinics

Serving families in Park and Meagher counties, the Pathways Program helps families access assurance when needed. For anyone with a child under the age of 18, the Pathways Program offers help applying for public assistance. The program will help you find out if you’re eligible. And if you are, you can get help applying too. CHP staff will listen to your questions and concerns with kindness, helping you find resources and get answers.
